Silicone mold – Decorative daisy

Daisy mold for decorative castings – as a table ornament, gift, or part of a bouquet.

Reference: FS610

A daisy made from this form will be great for decorative applications as an independent element or part of larger compositions. It can be used as a table decoration, a gift or – after setting on a stick – as part of a decorative bouquet. Silicone molds can be used to make castings from various raw materials: beeswax, soy wax, palm wax, paraffin, ceramic gypsum, creative concrete, epoxy resin, soap base. Thanks to the durability and flexibility of the mold, each casting will be perfectly reproduced.

Preparing the mold

  1. Spray the inside of the mold with silicone spray – this will make it easier to remove the finished candle.
  2. Cut the wick to the required length (longer than the mold) and thread it through the center of the mold.
  3. Next, secure the mold with rubber bands. Insert a toothpick into the end of the wick and tighten it. The wick thickness depends on the candle’s diameter.

Pouring the wax

  1. Melt the wax in a pot (preferably enamelled). Before pouring, the wax should reach approx. 60 °C – not too cold, not too hot.
  2. Pour the wax slowly so it reaches all recesses. The cooling time depends on the size of the silicone mold.

Removing the candle from the mold

  1. When the wax has hardened and cooled, remove the rubber bands, open the mold, and carefully take the candle out.
  2. Remove the toothpick and cut the wick at the base, leaving about 1 cm at the top.
  3. The last step is finishing the candle – trim the bottom with a knife, and dip the wick tip in warm wax if desired.

Usage recommendations:

When making casts, always follow safety precautions as you are working with hot substances.

To make demolding easier, spray the mold with silicone spray. Insert the wick before pouring and keep it slightly tightened. Before pouring wax, secure the mold with a string or rubber bands. For candle making, use liquid wax heated to about 50 °C.

Silicone molds can be used with:

  • beeswax
  • soy wax
  • palm wax
  • paraffin
  • ceramic plaster
  • creative concrete
  • epoxy resin
  • soap base

You will need:

  • Silicone mold – pour liquid wax heated to ~50 °C
  • Rubber bands – secure the mold before pouring to prevent wax leakage
  • Silicone spray – spray inside the mold to make demolding easier
