Our polystyrene construction provides excellent insulation against cold winters and hot summers. The interlocking boxes have reinforced top and bottom surfaces, which pry apart easily with a hive tool. 

This polystyrene hive is perfect for the beekeeper that wants durability and convenience year round. 

Based on an Australian design, the Lyson 8/9 hive system is made to hold 9 frames in brood boxes and 8 or 9 frames in honey supers.

Lyson polystyrene kits feature an integrated varroa/SHB monitoring tray, adjustable ventilation, an integrated entrance reducer/mouse guard, and reinforced frame rests and edges.

Choose from assembled / painted or flat packed and unpainted. If you choose the unpainted option, we recommend painting with a premium exterior, water-based paint for protection against the Australian sun.

We recommend using a strap to secure the hive.
